Process / Production Technician

We need a production type person who is generally knowledgeable on operation, repair, and maintenance of milling machines and processes.  This person is more than an operator yet less than an engineer.  They act as a liaison between engineering and the operators and generally troubleshoot, maintain, set up, introduce new procedures into the milling process steps.  An associates degree (technical, electronic, mechanical tech) would be helpful.

JOB SUMMARY

  • This position is responsible for performing a variety of activities to technically support all mill processes throughout the assigned Value Stream.
  • The incumbent in this position will aid in the welding and roll forming processes on the mills.  Additionally, this position includes the ability to troubleshoot different machinery.
  • Responsible for providing technical updates and feedback to the mill operators, process engineers, and management.
  • Works closely with others in the Value Stream including, Process Engineers, Value Stream Manager, Mill Operators, Maintenance Personnel, and others as needed. 
  • Must be able to develop work instructions, new procedures, and programs in an effort to standardize processes.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Support continuous improvement efforts by serving as a technical expert and
•    Participate as selected in new product design teams; determine, maintain/improve and communicate process capabilities and ensure they remain compatible with product specification.
•    Lead by example, setting the highest standards for continuously challenging current methods and seeking to eliminate waste in all activities.
•    Commitment to using lean methods to identify and eliminate waste.


Education:
Technical degree or related Associates degree or equivalent experience.  

Experience:  
Minimum 3-5 years prior experience in engineering area or shop floor responsibility.  Roll-forming, welding, and mill-related experience a plus.  Forklift experience a plus.

Technical Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) a plus.
