DESCRIBE THE BROAD FUNCTION AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION:
Conduct analysis that identify the cause of defects and suggest methods for avoiding them through Continuous Process Improvement. Assist in efforts to meet ISO-9001, specifically in, but not limited to, the areas of Process Control, Documentation, Internal Audits, Reliability, Packaging and Training. Assist in efforts for EH & S compliance.

*DESCRIBE THE PRINCIPAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE AND FREQUENCY:

• As needed assist in the initial identification, documentation and control of all nonconforming material discovered through the inspection and test processes. Able to make decisions on product acceptability.
• Develop and generate necessary summary reports to assist in measurement of key quality metrics (Product Returns, Non-Conforming Material Reports, Quality Costs, etc.) to determine major problem areas, identify trends and their associated root causes.
• Work closely with Engineering to develop and maintain Vendor-Contractor Booklets used to effectively communicate technical requirements related to MAP procurement of critical purchased sub-components and/or finished goods.
• Provide the planning necessary to perform an effective product acceptance function. This includes inspection instructions, equipment and gage requirements, test requirements, documentation requirements, specification compliance requirements, configuration control requirements, flowcharts, first article criteria, and sampling plans as required. This planning must be developed concurrently with and must be fully integrated into the manufacturing plan.
• Provide reliability, maintainability and quality engineering support to Development Engineering, Operations and Marketing as required (ex. Coordination of lab services, transit testing, weight testing, HALT, failure analysis, statistical analysis, etc.)
• Provide surveillance, technical support and final product acceptance at vendors/ sun-contractors.
• Conduct Internal Quality and Safety Audits. Assure all procedures are intelligible and adhere to ISO-9001 and OSHA compliance requirements.
• As required, investigates internal quality deficiencies and/or Customer Complaints and suggest corrective actions to correct those deficiencies. Conduct studies to determine effectiveness of corrective actions taken. In general support continuous process improvement efforts as a quality engineering resource.
• Participate in New Product Design reviews.
• Provide reliability, maintainability and quality engineering support to Development Engineering, Operations and Marketing as required (ex. Coordination of lab services, transit testing, HALT, failure analysis, statistical analysis, etc.)
• Support Process Improvement efforts as quality engineering resource (ex. DOE, FMEA, etc.)
• Maintain good housekeeping practices and performs duties in safe and efficient manner so as not to inflict injury to self or others.
• Inform area management of any hazardous situations in the work environment.
• Keep the VP of Engineering and QA informed and assist in his or her duties as needed.
• Other Quality/Safety related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelors degree (B.S.) and four years of experience in a Manufacturing environment OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Familiarity with metal fabrication and manufacturing assembly preferred.
• ASQ CQE preferred
• ASQ CQA preferred

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
• Must have clear understandable speaking ability.
• Basic understanding of applicable ISO 9001 requirements.
• Must have strong interpersonal and leadership skills, which are necessary to garner support, particularly across interdepartmental lines.
• Must be accurate, dependable, and able to work well in a fast paced environment.
• Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
• Must have good mathematical and analytical skills in a custom product environment where only limited standardization exists.
• Must be willing to work as part of a team.
• Should be able to analyze situations in business terms, i.e. ROI, payback period, cost per unit, etc.
• Strong computer skills required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/DEMANDS (e.g. PHYSICAL):
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. Sufficient dexterity is required to handle small parts, sensitive instruments and other machine controls. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift up to 65 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, presses, punches and other heavy machinery. The employee is occasionally exposed to non-temperature controlled environments.
• The noise level in the work environment can range from moderate to that requiring a Hearing Conservation Program.
